7 Things You Need To Know Before Dating A Dog Lover
We have all heard that popular saying that a dog is a man’s best friend. And if you’ve ever owned a dog in your life, you’d know that that’s absolute, one-hundred percent accurate.
Dogs are loyal, adorable, caring little creatures who will always love you unconditionally no matter what. The best thing about having a dog is that you’ll never feel lonely, partly because they’ll always be there to cheer you up, irrespective of how you look, what you’ve done in the past or any annoying habit(s) that you may possess.
Time and distance have never measured their love because even if you don’t see them for years when you finally meet them again they’ll still love you exactly how they used to.
Now if you’re a dog lover, you don’t need me to tell you all of this as you already know it all. But if you happen to be someone who is planning to date a dog lover, then you’ll have to deal with their love for dogs as well. And so on that note, here are 7 things you’ll have to keep in mind before dating a dog-lover:
1.) Their dog(s) is/are their family, make no mistake about that.
No matter how absurd this sounds to you, but they treat their dog exactly like a family member and so they will expect you to do the same. All the love and concern shown by them for their real family members will also be shown towards their dog, and in some cases, even more.
2.) They won’t ever hesitate in showering affection on their dog, especially via kisses.
And since they’d be treating their dog like a family member, they won’t ever hesitate in showering affection on them. So be ready to see them plant a lot of kisses on their dog (even on their lips) and make sure you’d be okay with it as you may be kissing your partner after that.
3.) Their voice will change while talking to their dogs.
You know how our voice immediately changes when we talk to or about cute things? Well, you will see a lot of that when you witness your partner talking to their dog. It might sound annoying to you, but you better get used to it since this is going to be a daily practice.
4.) They might prefer cuddling with their dogs over you.
Don’t get too worked up or stressed out when they decide to cuddle with their dogs and not you. The simple reason being that you just entered their life and their dog has always been there and no one, not even you, can ever replace that.
5.) Only plans made in advance will work out.
If you are planning on surprising them with weekend trips, you better think again as on-the-spot planning doesn’t work with them. They will either only go to places that allow dogs, or will have to arrange everything for their dogs before leaving. Either way, only plans made in advance will work out with them.
6.) They will expect you to love their dogs as much as they do.
Even if you are not a dog person, you will have to force yourself to love their dog(s) because he/she is an important part of their life and comes as a package deal with them. Remember, their friends’ and parents’ opinion about you wouldn’t matter as much as your devotion to their dog(s) would.
7.) They know how to love unconditionally.
If none of the above-mentioned points helps you, want to date a dog-lover, then this one definitely will. If their dogs have taught them anything, it’s how to love unconditionally. And so if they end up falling for you, they will love you with all their heart.
