This Man Is A Loving Dad To 735 Dogs That Nobody Wanted
“Dogs do speak, but only to those who know how to listen” and looks like these four-legged cherubs have found their dog-whisperer. If you love animals then after reading his story, this man is going to become the object of your worship. Meet Rajesh Shukla, the man with 735 dogs (yes, that’s right)
Despite having achieved all the materialistic needs that money could possibly buy, Rajesh still felt a lot of unhappiness. He quit his job, found a software company with his wife of 10 years. Rajesh says his life changed after he got Kavya home, the then 45-days old labrador pup he met in 2009, she changed his life for good and after that, there was no looking back.
Every time after that when he met a stray or an abandoned dog, he brought it home until eventually he ran out of space and bought a land to set up a farm he specially built for them.
When you are such a beloved person in the dog community, you can only imagine what happens to Rajesh when he steps out of his car to meet his furry friends about four times a week. Obviously, he is greeted with jumps, wet-nose-nuzzlings and a whole lot of joy.
The 3.5 acre land in Doddballapur houses Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Great Danes, Beagles, Dachshunds, Saint Bernard and a lot of street dogs, abandoned, ailing, in need of love and care and all fathered by this one man.
The farm employs about 10 people, including trained veterinary assistants, to look after the dogs, cook for them and feed them. The dogs are fed 200kg of chicken and another 200kg of rice daily. The daily cost of running the centre is 45,000 to 50,000 rupees and most of it is borne by him alone.
Of course, where there is good, there is annoyance from its oppressors. He has run into problems with some animal activists, who have demanded that they be allowed onto the farm. He has also faced complaints that he is creating public unrest by keeping so many dogs. There have also been demands that he shut down the farm. However, Rajesh has vowed to never give up on his animals, he says,
"I've made a pact with my dogs. We will part only when one of us kicks the bucket."
If this is not love, I dont know what is.
